I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it for older readers. It makes you think about important issues and has lots of thought provoking ideas. It is not like the usual books that I read. Black people and people of color are taught in school, in the media, and in everyday interactions to be empathetic and understanding of white people and their history. Due to everything that has gone on I think everyone should read it! However, the language used is strong and you need to be mature to read so I would say 12+.

It is a very interesting read and as a white person it tells what he felt like as a black living in the U.S.A. It talks about his life and his personal experiences and it has interviews with people who want to stop racism/ those who wrote nooks about racism. This is a must-read book! It is a hard read and you must not rush it so you can think about the topics it talks about. This book has shown me matters of racism that I otherwise never would have known about, and it is so important for everyone to understand that racism is a big thing, and everyone needs to take action against it.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to make a difference, whatever their age is. Featured in The Bookseller's January Previews 2021.
